Everest Panorama Trek

Everest Trek

Mt. Everest, at 29,028 ft is the highest mountain peak of the world. Also, known by the third pole, Everest soars as Sagarmatha high above the sky and the clouds. This region also includes Lhotse (27,923 ft), Cho Oyu (26,750 ft) and Amadablam (22,491 ft). Everybody knows of Mt Everest and that is the simple reason. The trek has a number of stunning attractions, but it also has some distinct drawbacks which might well deter potential trekkers were it not for the undeniable plus point of being able to say you have been to the base of the highest mountain in the world. The attractions include spectacular scenery and the outgoing Sherpa people of the Solu Khumbu, the region where Mt. Everest and its attendant lesser peaks are located. The drawbacks include the long, hard slog to get there and the acclimatization problems caused by the regions considerable altitude. Itis not until you get right into the Solu Khumbu region that the Everest trek really gets interesting. The first part of the trek is not only a hard slog, but is also pretty sparse in the breathtaking views department. The hard slog comes about because the trek does not follow valleys-like the Annapurna treks-instead the Everest trek cuts across the valleys. So for day after day it is a tiring the other. The Everest trek starts in the Nepali speaking Hindu lowlands and ends in the Tibetan-Buddhist highlands where the Sherpas are renowned for their enterprise, hard work, civic responsibility and devotion to the practice of Buddhism.

The life of mountain dwellers is vastly different from one we lead in the city and is worth having a look at. To look into the heart of the villages of these people we offer an exceptional 8 days trek featuring a wide range of spectacular scenery combined with unique cultural encounters with the Sherpa people who inhabit these high altitude regions.

The journey begins in the medieval city of Kathmandu, from where a short flight to the beautiful village of Lukla (2800m) will drop us to the heart of the Solu Khumbu region. The trek continues through the lush vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park, with pine forests, rhododendron flowers and an abundance of wildlife, to Namche Bazaar (3440m). A day of rest is necessary in Namche in order to get acclimatized to higher altitudes. The following days trekking will bring us to the village of Tengboche (3930m), home to the highest Buddhist monastery in the world (4100m) and also reputed by photographers as one of the best places to capture the awesome beauty of Mt. Everest (8848m) and its neighboring peaks.

The concluding days of this adventure will be spent in the delightful and scenic villages of Khunde (3500m) and Khumjung, where we will have the opportunity to interact with the legendary Sherpa people and participate in their astonishing traditional lifestyle. Back down to Lukla from where we will take a short flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying the last views of the awe-inspiring Himalayan range and its people.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu [1,350m/4,428ft]

Upon our arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, we will be warmly greeted by a representative from Beauty Nepal Adventure. After completion of our custom formalities (Visa, etc), we pick up our luggage and look for our representative with Beauty Nepal Adventure display board at the arrival gate. We will be then escorted to Hotel. After check in, either we visit at City site where we meet with our trekking guide or hang around the city.over night at Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu City Tour and Acclimatization day before fly to Lukla and also Trip Preparation Day

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. At the noon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Himalayan Glacier briefs us regarding our trek as well as provides us opportunity to ask any questions we may have regarding our upcoming adventure. Overnight at Kathmandu. Included meals:B

Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding [2,652m/8,700ft]: 3 - 4 hrs trek (walking time only)

After breakfast, we will be escorted to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), a gateway destination from where our trek begins. After an adventurous 40 minute flight above the breathtaking green and white mountains, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike today. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight at Phakding. Included meals:BLD

Day 04: Phakding - Namche Bazaar [3440 m/11,280 ft]: 5 - 6 hrs trek

Walking through a beautiful pine forest, the track leads us along the Dudh Koshi River through many suspension bridges, one of which is the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. First, we catch wonderful prospect of the glistening Mt. Thamserku (6618 m). Through the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, we come to the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. We pass through the last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. The trail climbs through the forests and bridges until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. After a final steep ascent of about two hours we get first sight of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Upon this juncture, we stop at Chautara to admire the view. We still need to hike about 1.5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar, a gateway to Mt. Everest and main trading centre of this region. We stay overnight in Namche Bazaar. Included meals:BLD

Day 05: Namche Bazzar: Acclimatization Day

This is the first of the two days set aside for "acclimatization". Health experts recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest day too instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day's hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. Included meals:BLD

Day 06: Namche Bazaar - Khumjung [3810 m/12500 ft]: 4 hrs trek

Today's journey starts with a climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a Japanese scheme to build a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on Earth. We trek up for about 2 hours and then level off until we reach the Khumjung village. The Khumjung valley surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kondge and Thamserku and the sacred peak Khumbila, hosts a well known monastery that houses a yeti scalp. We also visit Hillary School which is at the same site. Another set of busy and colorful monasteries, lined with prayer flags and prayer wheels, are braced along the slopes high above this traditional village. Included meals:BLD

Day 07: Khumjung - Tengboche [3,870m/12694ft]: 4 - 5 hrs trek

We take a walk descent down to Dudhkoshi River passing through little villages on the way. The trails involve down with forest and across riverside for the lunch and we take a final ascent step up for 2 hours through pine and fir forest to reach a small hill Tyangboche. It has the famous Tengboche Gumba to explore for the day. The photogenic views from here are considered to be the world's most splendid one. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku provide an inspiring views of Himalayan giants. Tengboche also boasts famous Tengboche Monastery. Over night at lodge. Included meals:BLD

Day 08: Tengboche to Kyangjuma (3,570m/11,710ft): 4 - 5 hrs

At dawn we spend a brief time at Tengboche, observe its many prayer wheels. We can not explore prayer altars inside as the monastery opens only at 3 pm. From Tengboche, a steep descent of about 1500ft/500m leads through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. We cross the first bridge over Dudh Koshi on our return trip at Phunki Tenga. Further we pass the village of Tashinga and Sansa before finally reaching beautiful village of Kyangjuma. Here, we appreciate the gorgeous Ama-dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest!  Overnight at Kyangjuma. Included meals:BLD

Day 09: Kyangjuma to Monjo [2,840m/9,315ft]: 4 - 5 hrs

The trail to Namche Bazar clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We lookout for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colourful pheasants etc. while we pass through the forest by the trail. We have enough time in Namche to shop and relax in a bakery that serves coffee and cakes, and provides Internet access. A steep descent from Namche Hill leads to the suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Kosi river near the confluence of the Dhudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi Rivers. We cross the Dudh Koshi River twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo. Upon this juncture, we are out of the Sagarmatha National Park after exiting from its official entrance near Monjo and finally reach Monjo Village. Monjo is comparatively a quieter place to stay than Namche and it also means our porters have a less strenuous walk back to Lukla next day. Overnight at Monjo. Included meals:BLD

Day 10: Trek to Lukla: 4 - 5 hrs trek

Today, we start to get warmed up by the light breeze. Although we are traveling the same route down, we feel completely different views. We snap a mixture of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. We take time and walk leisurely today as this is the last day of our trek. We reexperience the Sherpa villages' impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag while we walk through the villages. Upon arrival in Lukla, we have plenty of time to relax, stretch those sore legs, and recall the experiences of the last couple of days. We experience the culmination of a fantastic trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with smile on faces! Upon arrival in Lukla, we stroll around while our leader will re-confirm our flight ticket. In the evening, we enjoy last dinner with our crew. Overnight in Lodge. Included meals:BLD

Day 11: Lukla - Kathmandu

Today, we fly back to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. The early morning flight drops us in Kathmandu. We can rest and relax throughout the day at hotel. If we get interested to take some gifts home from Nepal for friends and relatives, we can visit to some nearby shops or venture out in Thamel for typical Nepalese goods. This short excursion either can be assisted by Beauty Nepal Adventure guides or we can do it ourselves too. If we want to explore any other areas in Kathmandu, we have to manage time for this today as well! At the evening we will be at a fantastic celebration dinner together for successfully completing our trek to Everest Base Camp hosted by Beauty Nepal Adventure! Overnight in Kathmandu. Included meals:BD

Day 12: Farewell Friend

The journey within the mountains of Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but we just trade emails to travel companions and organize our photos. If we have more time we can do some shopping or sightseeing. At last approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight, a representative from Beauty Nepal Adventure escorts us to the airport. On our way to home we will have plenty of time to plan our next adventure trip in the wonderful country of Nepal. Included meals:B
